April 2024 Update - 1.9.4

This month there are weapons, vehicles, whooshes, Foley and more. Crafted by our in-house sound designers who love all things sci-fi.

11 new sound effect presets

Rolling Droid: Inspired by one of the sequel's favourite characters, with Rolling Droid, you can control the speed and pitch of the movement, plus fine-tune the balance between the droid’s movement motor, and those iconic droid-style chirps.
Lazer Burst: A rapid-firing weapon preset, that tailors the balance between a ballistic automatic rifle and a range of awesome lazer layers. Control the pitch, and don't forget to reload at those crucial battle moments!
Energies: An awesome energy field that sounds like asteroids and starships screaming past you in space. Using our AI Foley engine, you can dial up the intensity and density by moving around on the Y-axis, and control the timbre on the X-axis.
Electro Sniper: An immensely powerful plasma-style sniper rifle, full of character and a ground-shaking buildup. Experiment with each layer to extract new sound after new sound. Click and hold to build up power, and release to fire!
Jetpack: I mean, it’s a jetpack, what more could you ask for!? Click to ignite the Jetpack, move upwards to increase thrust, downwards to decrease thrust, and cut the ignition when you release. This one is just too much fun.
Dark Strike: Crispy, crackling force-style lightning sound effect. Move around in the XY pad to increase intensity and alter the character.
Gameplay Pickup: This preset combines natural cloth elements with gratifying sci-fi sounds. Great for interfaces, overlays and transitional moments.
Mechanical Giant: Where’s our giant mechanical fighters at(-AT)? This preset features ground-shattering impacts, complete with steam hiss compression and a range of mechanical elements. Get stomping!
Laser Door: An electronic door, with clunks, hisses and latches at various pitches. Control the speed manually, and lock the door separately with the click of a button.
Speed Racer: A classic space race style sound effect. Control the pitch and speed on the XY pad to tailor the sound to perfection.

March 2024 Update - 1.9.3

What's New

A New Preset Browser: Enjoy the new specialised range of categories & immediately see the upcoming monthly presets prior to installing them
AI Preset Search: Do you know a preset by name? Now you can either recall it by name or describe the sound and Krotos Studio will find it for you
Improved Pro Tools compatibility: Under specific circumstances Pro Tools would not load or hang, this has been amended
Fixed package download resumability: You can rest assured that Krotos Studio will pick up from where you left
Fixed autoplay: While switching between autoplaying presets no audio was been generated, this has been amended
Crash Monitoring: Krotos Studio is now smart enough to figure out what went wrong during a crash, and will make it easier to provide a fix for it
The installer is smart enough now to not allow Krotos Studio to be installed in versions earlier that macOS 11 (Big Sur)

In this update, we’ve refined our AI search engine. You can now search for specific presets or describe the sound you're looking for, and Krotos Studio will present you with matching results.

Additional Fixes:

Improved Pro Tools compatibility: Pro Tools would sometimes not load or hang, but this issue has been resolved.
Fixed package download resumability: Now, if a download is interrupted, Krotos Studio will resume from where you left off.
Fixed autoplay issue: Switching between autoplaying presets now works smoothly without audio interruptions.

Quick FX is the new feature in the latest Krotos Studio update. Combining a convolution reverb and a low pass filter, Quick FX offers three modes of operation, allowing you to place your sound effects in an environment within seconds.

December 2023 Update - 1.9.0

December 2023 brings an immensely powerful AI-search engine to Krotos Studio, along with 15 brand-new room tone sound effect presets to explore and use in your projects.

New Room Tone Presets

Room tone refers to the natural ambient sound of any indoor or outdoor space. It is a crucial element in creating realistic soundscapes for your videos, providing a consistent and continuous background atmosphere.

In Krotos Studio 1.9, we’ve expanded the room tone ambiences to bring you 15 versatile room tone presets. Each preset includes four unique room tones that can be used individually or combined for more dense and textured sounds.

October 2023 Update - 1.8.0

October 2023 brings the 1.8.0 update to Krotos Studio, introducing 37 brand new AI-powered sound effect presets to explore and use in your projects. This update also includes full DaVinci Resolve support, making your workflow faster and more efficient than ever before. Learn more about this update below!

Full DaVinci Resolve Support

Krotos Studio is now fully supported as a plugin directly within DaVinci Resolve. You can launch the Krotos Studio plugin from the Fairlight tab, and the plugin will run in sync with your video timeline, making sound synchronization much faster and easier.

Using the plugin in DaVinci Resolve allows you to record sounds directly onto the timeline, offering a significant advantage by improving the speed and efficiency of your workflow. Multiple passes of effects can now be recorded faster, eliminating the need to drag and drop sounds from the standalone version of the plugin.

The September sound effect presets feature a selection of cinematic transitions and impacts, plus richly detailed ambiences added to Krotos Studio's sound collection.

2 Ambience Sound Effect Presets

More versatile and infinitely-generating ambience sound effects have been added to the ambiences category this month:

Interior Quiet: Subtle yet essential interior ambiences, featuring vents, fridges, bathrooms, and low rumbles.
Quiet Village: An idyllic village preset with water fountains, church bells, wind in the trees, bird songs, and more.

1 Weather Preset

Even more choices for rain sound effects have been added to the weather category:

Rain on Surfaces: An essential collection of sounds like rain hitting umbrellas, tin roofs, car windshields, and windows to bring depth and realism to rainy scenes.

10 Cinematic Sound Effect Presets

Cold Impact: A chilling impact with cold metallic layers and cavernous tails.
Steel Impact: Destructive layers of sheet metal, gongs, and springs for a cinematic effect.
Metallic Flurry (Transition): A transition preset with metallic tonal layers and warm bass textures.

6 Ambience Sound Effect Presets

More versatile & infinitely-generating ambience sound effects have been added to the ambiences category this month:

Roomtone Electric: An essential collection of electrical room tones. It features buzzing neon signs, humming refrigerators, whirring fans, generators, and more. Combine these layers to perfection for your scenes.
Desert: A dynamic and immersive ambience preset covering light and medium sandstorms, grassland rustling, tents, campfires, and wind whistles. Ideal for epic establishing shots and realistic situational soundscapes.
Morbid Sewers: A frightening, sombre ambience combining echoey water drips, sewer rumble, metal screeches, and unsettling tones for a terrifying soundscape.
